A PokerLog alternative

PokerLog packs a lot in: unlimited free cash logging, GTO preflop charts, a US room directory, and a Gemini-powered AI assistant on its Prime tier. If that bundle is what you use, stay with it. The honest reasons players go looking for an alternative are focus, the missing cost fields, Android, and life outside the US. This page covers all four, plus the clean way out with your data.

Why players go looking

PokerLog's bundle is genuinely generous at the free tier: unlimited cash logging, 6-max and 9-max preflop charts, and a US room directory that stood at 398 venues across 40 states at our July 2026 check. The paid Prime tier ($11.99 a month or $99.99 a year at the same check) adds tournaments, a 20-table online mode, cloud sync and The Oracle, its Gemini-powered stats assistant. For the player it was built for, a US grinder who wants strategy content and a game-finder living inside the tracker, there is no strong reason to leave.

The players who do go looking tend to share one of four itches. Focus: charts and an AI assistant in the logging app are clutter if your study happens elsewhere. Costs: PokerLog's current listing shows no tip, travel or expense fields, so its hourly is gross. Android: the platform was listed as coming soon at our check, which is a polite way of saying not today. And geography: the directory, the IRS-ready CSV framing and the venue coverage are US-shaped, which does nothing for a player whose local is in Manchester or Melbourne.

What you keep, what you give up

Moving to a review-first tool is a trade, so price both sides. You give up the preflop charts (though a chart you study away from the table does not need to live inside your tracker), The Oracle's natural-language queries, the room directory, and Prime's 20-table online mode if you multi-table.

You gain the fields PokerLog does not hold: dealer tips, travel and session costs feeding a true hourly by default. You gain a variance read pointed backward at your own sample, alongside the forward-looking Monte Carlo style simulation PokerLog already does. And you gain the study layer: hands marked at the table, leaks tagged with a history by stake and line, a reads notebook on your regular pool, and the Coach Pack PDF when you take the numbers to a coach. The gained column above is aimed squarely at complete session economics and the running-bad-versus-playing-bad question.

The gap in money, worked through

Make the gross-versus-net hourly concrete, because it is the least visible difference and the most expensive. A 1/2 player, £2 big blind, logs 250 hours a year over 50 sessions. Dealer tips at £2 an hour come to £500. Travel at £6 a session comes to £300. That is £800 a year, or 1.6 BB/hr against the whole sample, that a tracker without cost fields cannot subtract, because the fields do not exist. The hourly it shows is not wrong so much as gross, and every decision built on it, stake selection, room selection, whether the drive to the further casino pays, inherits the error.

The variance gap is quieter but real. PokerLog's simulator projects downswing ranges from an assumed win rate; it cannot tell you whether your observed rate is proven. The same 250-hour sample at an observed 5 BB/hr carries a 95% band of roughly -1.5 to 11.5 BB/hr (SD 100 BB/100, about 27 hands an hour). Knowing the band is wide is not discouraging, it is orienting: it says keep logging, and it says a losing month proves nothing yet, which is the sentence most players need mid-downswing.

The exit path is clean

Credit to PokerLog here: CSV and JSON export sit on the free tier per its site, so your history is yours without paying to leave. Export the CSV, import it into Overshove with a one-time column mapping, and the full sample arrives; fields PokerLog never held, tips and travel, simply start accruing from your first Overshove session, honestly blank behind that date rather than backfilled with guesses.

The low-risk route is the four-week parallel: keep logging in PokerLog, mirror the sessions in Overshove (seconds each), and compare what each surfaces at the end of the month. The Overshove core is free, and CSV export means the door swings both ways. If the review loop does not earn its place in four weeks, delete nothing, keep PokerLog, and this page cost you an hour of duplicate entry.

Who should stay with PokerLog

US players who travel and use the directory: nothing else on this page finds you a game at 398 venues. Players who want their preflop charts inside the tracker rather than in a separate trainer. Online multi-tablers on Prime, whose 20-session mode targets a job Overshove does not attempt. And anyone whose US tax filing leans on the IRS-ready CSV export.

The standing honesty about the alternative: Overshove is a private beta, a web app on any phone plus a Windows desktop build with native mobile planned, no GTO charts, no AI assistant, no in-hand advice, no profit promise. It is a narrower tool on purpose. If the bundle is what you actually use, the bundle is the right buy, and PokerLog remains a well-built one.
