A PokerBase alternative for review

PokerBase is a strong app, so the honest reason to look for an alternative is fit, not flaws. If you do not stake, do not want the social layer, and mostly want to understand your live-cash results, the cost-aware hourly and bankroll view, a narrower tracker can suit you better. When an alternative actually makes sense

Switch trackers for a reason, not a whim. If you use PokerBase's staking packages, if your backers rely on its live updates, if the social feed is part of the fun, or if the receipts-to-tax-PDF pipeline earns its keep at filing time, staying put is the sensible call. Those are the jobs PokerBase does best, and no alternative on a review-first pitch will do them better.

The case for moving appears when those features are not your life and a cost-aware hourly matters more. A bankroll-and-social app is not built to add missing cost fields or separate variance from leaks: at our July 2026 check, no variance or standard deviation read and no study log appeared anywhere on PokerBase's public listings or site. The switching checklist, in order

First, your data. Check what your PokerBase version can actually export before anything else. Its documented exports are PDF reports built for taxes; Excel and Google Sheets appear on its site as import sources, not export targets, and no public page mentioned CSV export at our July 2026 check. If you can produce a spreadsheet-readable file, test it with Overshove's session spreadsheet import control and reconcile a small sample first. If you genuinely cannot, decide whether to re-key the history that matters (a few hours for most players) or start the sample fresh and keep PokerBase as the archive.

Second, your costs. Price the year honestly using the table below, remembering that what PokerBase gates per tier is not itemised publicly, so establish which paid tier you actually need before assuming the free one covers you.

Third, your features. List what you would lose: staking, social, the tournament calendar, receipt scanning. If nothing on that list stings, the switch costs you little. If one of them does, run both apps for a month instead of switching cold.

What the review loop gives you instead

For a synthetic cost comparison, take 400 table hours at £1/£2 across 80 sessions. £2/hr of stack-paid dealer tips totals £800 and is already in the cash-out result. Separately paid travel of £10 per session adds £800 outside that result: £2 per table hour, or 1 BB/hr. The additional cost is £800, not £1,600. PokerBase public pages do not establish its additional-expense calculation; test a known sample rather than inferring a gross hourly from an absent breakdown.

Run the four-week parallel

The cheap way to decide is to not decide: log every session in both apps for four weeks. PokerBase keeps doing what it does, Overshove's core is free, and the duplicate entry is seconds per session.

At the end of the month, compare three things. Whether the true hourly with tips and travel included changes your view of your best game. Whether the cost-aware hourly changes your game selection. The confidence read and study tools are in development, so evaluate those after they ship. Four weeks of your own data beats any comparison page, this one included.

Who should stay with PokerBase

Stakers and their backers, first and without argument: the automatic real-time backer updates are the category-best feature and Overshove's staking tools are not live. Social players second: public profiles, friend feeds and messaging have no Overshove equivalent by design. Anyone who needs a polished native app from either store today, and anyone whose tax filing leans on the receipt scanning and PDF reports.

The standing honesty about the alternative: Overshove is live in phone and desktop browsers, no HUD, no solver, no in-hand advice, no profit promise. It suits the player who wants their results treated as study material. If that is not the itch, PokerBase was never the problem.
